Kidney stones... Well, I ended up in the ER last night with J. He was in so much pain he was getting delirious, so at about 1:30a we headed for meds.
Okay, question... WHY do these things always happen in the middle of the night?! Friday night was the same thing with K. She threw up all night. You never hear anybody say, "She threw up all afternoon." It's always at night. Anyhow, K said, "I don't think I ever threw up that much before." J said, "I don't think ANYBODY ever threw up that much before." I know you're all glad I shared that.
J is okay now, thanks for asking. He is back at work (because he is INSANE) and I'm lying around playing on the computer. I did finish a little project for my Holiday Swap Pal.

AND, I made a button for my site. All of you (you three know who you are!) who link to my site can use this cute button now. I love Photoshop. I could make buttons all day long. Don't know why I didn't sooner.
I'm exhausted, but HEY - 17 days til I leave for Disneyland!!!!
Well, what a month - WHEW!! Thanksgiving was insane, but glorious. We attempted gingerbread houses which was a blast and good for a laugh (thanks to K and her flop of a house - I made it and J helped her (his hands in pic) so don't blame the kid!).

I managed to finish one red snake. (More info on the scarf here)
And one gold & black hat.
PATTERN: Tychus, the short-row beanie from Knitty (adapted)
YARN: Lion Brand Wool-Ease in the gold and the black (I don't remember the real names)
NEEDLES: #6 straight aluminum needles
START: 11-23-05
COMPLETE: 11-25-05
LOVED: Okay, I simply LOVED making this pattern. I can't wait to do another one (already have a request for "BYU colors" ... I also have to admit that it was kind of fun to use straight aluminums again for the first time in awhile. Also, I LOVE this yarn. I can't get enough of it.
HATED: Hmmm... I really hated nothing. Gauge was a little tricky cause I sized it down for a child. I doubled the yarn as per the pattern, but I went down to #6 needles and only did three patterns instead of five (and then stitched the top so it wasn't as "cone-shaped").
I haven't finished the Weasley ("F" Sweater below). I'm shooting for Christmas.

It is snowing here and I say, "let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!!!" Snow is always allowed between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Then it should be gone. Until next year. Seriously.
The count down is on to Disneyland. EIGHTEEN DAYS!!!! I can't wait. Splash Mountain, here I come!!!! I would live at Disneyland if they would let me. They won't. I've asked.
Here is a picture of Grand Duchess Anastasia Romanov as a child working on her knitting. I simply love it. I found it at a site I'm hooked on, called "Knit the Classics." How can I go wrong with site that combines my two loves of knitting and reading?!
I have emailed to join the "club" and I'm sure I'll be adding the link soon!!
My hands have almost recovered from my marathon knitting Thursday. I should actually be able to knit again this afternoon. I hope so... I still have one HP sweater, 1 snake scarf and one T B-day gift to finish by Thursday!!!!!!
So, what do you all think Anastasia is knitting?! I don't think it's a Weasley!
Hoorah!!! We're on our way to Salt Lake City to meet up with the rest of my insane siblings and niece/nephews to watch the new Harry Potter movie.
I thought I could knit all day yesterday and finish the "Weasley" (aka Secret Project).
At approx 10000 stitches for each SLEEVE - it just wasn't meant to be. Instead I feel like the ouzo scene in Barefoot in the Park (one of my favorite oldies).
I'm off to take some meds for my hands and go watch the movie!
Well, we got a skiff of snow last night. I know that skiff is actually a boat… but around here when we say we have a skiff of snow it means a “light dusting” of the stuff. My body certainly has expected more this week, but it just hasn't happened (yet).
Well, I’m trying this in MS Word – we’ll see how well it works. I’m not sure I can upload images, but I guess we’ll see. I DO prefer editing in Word.
Well, not so FAB - it didn't keep my color choice, it put a little "image place holder" marker and the words were all squishy. Guess I'll stick to Blogger for now.
I chose green today because I think I'm going to be missing that color around here. To be fair, it has been a GORGEOUS fall. Mild and beautiful. And, it IS nice to have white Christmases - I grew up in AZ, so the closest I usually came to white Christmases were movies starring Bing Crosby. I love movies with Bing Crosby in them.
Oh, and here's your trivia question - In what movie did the song "White Christmas" first appear?

Let me just ask, "WHY DO I LIVE IN NORTHERN UTAH?"
Now, I know there are colder places in the world - but there are certainly warmer places. This picture is how I feel today.
I am 38 and I feel 138 today. We will probably get snow today and I am feeling every one of those 138 years. I have arthritis and it has settled into my hip so bad that I pretty much can't walk. I kept waking up in the night in pain.
Now, why am I complaining? I just need a little sympathy. I can hear your little violins playing even as I type this.
Thanks, my Dear Tammy - who has possibly fewer hours in her day than I do. A fabulous newbie knitter (you'd never know it) and design student with a yarn obsessed cat and a penchant for all things vintage.
Here are my answers:
What is your all-time favorite yarn to knit with?
Tis true that I love it all. I'd knit with grass if I could string it together properly. I do prefer the wonderful and luxurious natural fibers, but I think that the yarn I use is totally dependent on the project. When you're knitting for a four-year-old and you really want to give him the joy of "playing" with the yarn - there's nothing wrong with cheap acrylic. But, if it's a project for me - I'd prefer a nice pricey Rowan... mmmm...
Your favorite needles?
Oh, definitely Addi Turbo circs. THE BEST. Love them, love them. I rarely (if ever) use straight needles anymore. I like bamboo dpn's (not brand picky on those)...
The worst thing you've ever knit?
Probably the harmonica case for J before we were married. Burgundy Red Heart! What a good sport!!! He actually kept the harmonica in it. Of course, I may have thrown away the original box......
Your most favorite knit pattern? (maybe you don't like wearing it, but it was the most fun to knit.)
I really enjoyed the one skein wonder pattern. Don't know why - but it was sort of addicting. In fact, I think I'm getting the itch to make another - if only there were enough hours in my day. Oh, and I really loved the Celtic Cap from Girl From Auntie. A lot of fun, that one! So many patterns, so little time. And, of course - I could make felted bags all day long!
Most valuable knitting technique?
Hmmm... This changes from day to day, possibly hour to hour. Today I'll say - winding the center-pull ball. And, cables - I just love knitting cables.
best knit book or magazine?
Magazines - Interweave Knits & Vogue
Books - I collect vintage knitting books.
Your favorite knitblogs?
Ah, c'mon - we'd be here all day. I have to pace myself with blog reading - but I love you girls!
Your favorite knit-along?
Haven't done one - but I read the blogs and live vicariously. Does that count? We're planning one for the "Mary Poppins Bag" after the first of the year.
Your favorite knitwear designer?
Another thing that I sort of go through "spells" with. Right now I really love the few Celtic things Girl from Auntie (aka Jenna Wilson) has done. See her beautiful chemo cap at knitty.
The knit item you wear/use the most? (how about a picture of it?)
I own nothing that I have made. Isn't that pathetic?! I tried and tried to think of the last thing I made for myself and I'm coming up blank. When I lose my weight - one of my gifts to myself is going to be this pullover, though. And, I'm planning the Mary Poppins bag - did I already say that?!
tag time!
Okay, knitting chicks - get ready. ... Penny, Becky & Jen -- TAG, you're IT!

Okay, maybe it's just a red day. I KNOW I haven't posted forever. Life is INSANE right now. Not sure it'll be slowing down anytime soon.

I am posting pics of two RED projects I've been working on. My square for my afghan exchange (complete) and S's Snake (incomplete). I'm not even going to post October's goals because it's too depressing. Maybe tomorrow I'll deal.
