My Meme - aka "IT"
Thanks, my Dear Tammy - who has possibly fewer hours in her day than I do. A fabulous newbie knitter (you'd never know it) and design student with a yarn obsessed cat and a penchant for all things vintage.
Here are my answers:
What is your all-time favorite yarn to knit with?
Tis true that I love it all. I'd knit with grass if I could string it together properly. I do prefer the wonderful and luxurious natural fibers, but I think that the yarn I use is totally dependent on the project. When you're knitting for a four-year-old and you really want to give him the joy of "playing" with the yarn - there's nothing wrong with cheap acrylic. But, if it's a project for me - I'd prefer a nice pricey Rowan... mmmm...
Your favorite needles?
Oh, definitely Addi Turbo circs. THE BEST. Love them, love them. I rarely (if ever) use straight needles anymore. I like bamboo dpn's (not brand picky on those)...
The worst thing you've ever knit?
Probably the harmonica case for J before we were married. Burgundy Red Heart! What a good sport!!! He actually kept the harmonica in it. Of course, I may have thrown away the original box......
Your most favorite knit pattern? (maybe you don't like wearing it, but it was the most fun to knit.)
I really enjoyed the one skein wonder pattern. Don't know why - but it was sort of addicting. In fact, I think I'm getting the itch to make another - if only there were enough hours in my day. Oh, and I really loved the Celtic Cap from Girl From Auntie. A lot of fun, that one! So many patterns, so little time. And, of course - I could make felted bags all day long!
Most valuable knitting technique?
Hmmm... This changes from day to day, possibly hour to hour. Today I'll say - winding the center-pull ball. And, cables - I just love knitting cables.
best knit book or magazine?
Magazines - Interweave Knits & Vogue
Books - I collect vintage knitting books.
Your favorite knitblogs?
Ah, c'mon - we'd be here all day. I have to pace myself with blog reading - but I love you girls!
Your favorite knit-along?
Haven't done one - but I read the blogs and live vicariously. Does that count? We're planning one for the "Mary Poppins Bag" after the first of the year.
Your favorite knitwear designer?
Another thing that I sort of go through "spells" with. Right now I really love the few Celtic things Girl from Auntie (aka Jenna Wilson) has done. See her beautiful chemo cap at knitty.
The knit item you wear/use the most? (how about a picture of it?)
I own nothing that I have made. Isn't that pathetic?! I tried and tried to think of the last thing I made for myself and I'm coming up blank. When I lose my weight - one of my gifts to myself is going to be this pullover, though. And, I'm planning the Mary Poppins bag - did I already say that?!
tag time!
Okay, knitting chicks - get ready. ... Penny, Becky & Jen -- TAG, you're IT!
