See Me Visit Teach

Okay, those of you who know me may know one of my deep dark secrets. I am not a huge fan of visiting teaching. There. I said it.

I heard a couple of great talks on the subject at BYU Women's Conference (one by MEE that was amazing!) and one speaker said, "I love visiting and I love teaching. I just don't like them put together." Boy could I relate.

I don't really have a reason. I don't really understand it. I GO every month. I have had the same companion for years and we have an understanding - she sets the appointments and I give the lessons - when we get to the lessons.

But, something has happened to me recently. I have been converted. And in the strangest way possible... because I am not particularly crafty either... but, I found a website. Kristin is one of the craftiest LDS ladies online and she has an amazing blog of visiting teaching crafts. I'm hooked. Sold. In love.

And I've changed.

I anticipate visiting teaching.

These aren't merely crafts or handouts - they are visual aids to go along with each month's lesson. I internalize the lesson better as I make my handouts. I pray more about my sisters. I don't know if it's doing something tactile that brings the closeness I have missed in visiting teaching. I don't understand. But I accept.

And I am grateful.

I just finished the adorable purse(s) above (okay, that's Kristin's but amazingly mine looks really similar) to better teach Elder Cook's "Parable of the Purse." I can't wait to go share the craft and the message and the love.

Thank you, Kristin!
