A hat and some fudge

Well, it is raining today - simply beautiful. I wish it would rain every day. I grew up in the desert of Arizona, so you can see where I get this sentiment.

Last night I made this little hat. I made it larger than the pattern called for (obviously) and I knit it in the round so it was even slightly larger than planned (forgot that without seaming it would be a bit larger)... So, Katie gets it. And she loves it!

This was a FAST knit (an hour or two) and the yarn is YUMMY.

Speaking of yummy ... I just tried a new EASY fudge recipe. Put 1 lb. (that's THREE cups, not the two that are in a normal bag) of chocolate chips and four TB of butter in the microwave. Watch it so it doesn't burn (I set mine for 15 sec between each "stir") and let it get "melty" (technical term). Then add one can of sweetened condensed milk and stir until combined. Put it into an 8x8 (buttered or saran wrapped) pan and put it in the fridge for a couple of hours. DIVINE. I am not a fudge fan, but DIVINE.

We call it the "Tele Tubbies" hat!

...what a cute girl in that hat!

    Whit says:

And she took a lot longer to make.

Hey Whit, check out this pattern, it looks like one you'd like. I'd wear an adult version of it! Course, anyone who's seen my Grinch hat knows that I'll wear just about anything.

    Whit says:

I LOVE it! I'll have to see what I can do. Right now I'm making a neighbor girl a poncho and then I have three little felted purses and another poncho that I've promised and THEN I can get back to what "I" want to make. lol

There's a sweater that I'm dying to make Kate. It is a beautiful green with a leaf pattern in it.

    The sweater is AWSOME.
That fudge gives me a headache, I think it's almost too sweet (but not quite).
    Mmm.

Why does it give you a headache?

I'm going to pick up some yarn and make that hat for one of my godsons. He's got big blue eyes so I think some blue yarn would make them look even bigger. I think I'm going to try your fudge recipe with some peanut butter swirled through it, I'm always looking for things to add peanut butter to.

    Whit says:

You could get some PB chips and do part PB chips and part choc chips - I'd probably heat them separate and then swirl them. Mmmm... that sounds really tasty. Be sure to post a pic of the hat! If you do it in the round, I'd recommend cutting out a couple of stitches or so. John says I should make it in blue for nephew Joshua - he has big blue eyes also. :O)

Candi, I'd LOVE to get that recipe for the nuts. The entire mall smells so good each year when they are selling those!
